Dhaka Bureau: The Civil Aviation Authority (BAB) is going to allow helicopter landings on rooftops of houses, corporate helipads, residential hotels, and hospitals starting this July. The organization is already preparing a policy in this regard.
The Babychak chairman also agreed to this. The decision will be issued in the form of a circular and implemented by July. This Monday (July 3) morning, Babychak Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mofidur Rahman said that permission to land helicopters on the rooftop has been approved.
It will be issued in circular form in July itself. According to Bebichak sources, the building where the helicopter will land must be suitable for landing. For this, the necessary certificate should be obtained from BUET. The establishment of a helipad will not be allowed without a certificate. Besides, permission is also being given to use any open space in the country as a helipad.
For several years, helipads in Dhaka were not allowed to land helicopters. The reason for this, Bebichak said, was a verbal disallowance from the Ministry of Home Affairs to give such permission. They cited security risks and the threat of drug trafficking. So until now, helicopters used to take off and land from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
