A complaint has been received against Education Board Secretary Professor Rezaul Karim for extorting Tk 50,000 by threatening to become the concerned contractor for the broken four tiles. It is known that the Chittagong Education Board completed the mosaic work by withdrawing advance money from the board’s own funds through Section Officer Jasim. About two months after the incident, the secretary of the board, Professor Rezaul Karim Marstus Cimex Company Ltd., received 50 thousand taka in cash from its representative in the name of repairing the said mosaic.
When the matter was known, the secretary deposited the said money with the office assistant, Sakhawat Hossain (punished). When Sakhawat Hossain was contacted on mobile (01825013887) in this regard, he did not receive the mobile. Regarding the complaint, the contracting company Marstus Simex Ltd., when contacted on mobile (01833102457), did not receive.
When the secretary was contacted by phone at 02333336765 in this regard, he asked to go to the office and contact him. When the chairman was contacted by phone at 02333336766, his PA said that he was busy in the office.
According to the Chittagong Education Board, there is no provision to accept any transaction in cash. There is a provision to deposit any money through Sonali Bank.
