Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Miscreants cut the left wrist of a young man among the five Rohingyas who were abducted in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. The local Rohingyas rescued him from the Teknaf Alikhali D/20 block hilly area on Saturday (June 3) around 9 p.m. with his wrists cut off. This has been confirmed by Camp Majhi Nurul Amin. Teknaf refugee Alikhali Camp Majhi Nurul Amin said about the victim’s family that on Friday night, a terrorist group of 12–15 armed people kidnapped five Rohingya youths from Camp No. 25. Since then, they have been missing. Later on Saturday, around 9 p.m., his family came to know that one of the abductees, Jahangir, had been left by the miscreants with his left wrist cut off in the area adjacent to D/21 Block Pahari in Alikhali camp. Later, with the help of locals, he was rescued and taken to the hospital adjacent to the camp (IRC). As his condition is critical, the doctor on duty referred him to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital after his first treatment.
He also said that after the abduction of five Rohingya youths, the abductors were demanding a ransom of Tk 20 lakh from them. The remaining four abductees have not yet returned to their abductors.
No statement was received from the 16 Armed Police Battalion in charge of the camp. OC of Teknaf Police Station.
