Dhaka Bureau: Acting Chairman of BNP Tarek Rahman and his wife, Dr. Zobayda Rahman, testify against Zobayda Rahman today, Monday, May 29.
On Sunday (May 28), Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Asaduzzaman’s court was scheduled to take evidence in the case. No witness came to the court that day. That is why the ACC applied for time to postpone the taking of evidence. Later, the court granted the application for time and fixed the testimony for Monday. The testimony of three of the 56 people in this case has been completed.
Earlier, on April 13, the court framed charges against Tarek-Zobaida. In this case, the court issued an arrest warrant against Tariq Rahman and Jobaida Rahman on November 1, 2022.
According to the complaint of the case, the ACC filed this case on September 26, 2007 at the capital’s Kafrul police station on charges of owning Tk 4 crore, 81 lakh, 53 thousand, and 561 beyond the declared income, concealing the information of assets, and acquiring assets outside the known income. In the case of Tariq Rahman, Zobayda Rahman and his mother, i.e., Tariq Rahman’s mother-in-law, Iqbal Mand Banu, were accused. In 2008, a charge sheet was filed against two people. Tarek’s mother-in-law, Iqbal Mand Banu, was acquitted in the case.
