Poor condition of CUFL Road: public suffering is increasing

ANWARA REPRESENTATIVE: CUFL Road is in dire condition. The brick sand and concrete have gone up and created numerous potholes on the road. Small potholes across the road have become dangerous. It’s the same when it’s sunny as it is when it rains. Rainwater accumulates in the potholes on the road. Motorists are learning to drive vehicles. If not repaired urgently before the monsoon, communication can be lost at any moment. The CUFL road in Anwara upazila is of public importance. The only means of communication in the western area of the upazila

Moreover, Kafco, CUFL, DAP Fertilizer Company Limited, China Economic Zone, KEPZ, Karnaphuli Dry Dock, and Marine Academy vehicles are constantly moving. Carloads of people come from far away to visit the shrine of Hazrat Shah Mohchen Auliar (RA). The road is known as an alternative to the Bangabandhu Tunnel Road. The main road to Parki Beach Apart from this, many students of schools, colleges, and madrasas travel.

People from Chittagong, South, use the road to and from Patenga Airport. The road has been repeatedly repaired and is not being repaired. Immediately after the repair, the road becomes old-looking. As a result, many questions have arisen among the locals. Currently, the condition of the road is deplorable. There are numerous potholes in the road. When it rains, the water in the hole boils. Car drivers are suffering. Water accumulates in the pothole at Chatri Chaumuhani junction. Holes are visible in the middle of the road west of the market.

There is a big hole at the head of Mohammadpur Road, Bairag Oil Shop, Amanullah Neighborhood. CNG driver Rubel says he is unable to maintain standing while driving. Vehicle equipment is destroyed by falling into potholes. We suffer a lot. I’m still driving because of my stomach. Bairag UP Chairman Nawab Ali said that the road needs to be renovated on an urgent basis. The suffering of people has increased with commuting.

CUFL MD Mizanur Rahman said the road was handed over to the Roads and Urban Department last year. Suman Singh, executive engineer of the Dohazari road and township department, said that the repair work will be done on the road soon. According to locals, heavy vehicles carrying scrap from Karnaphuli dry dock are causing damage to the road. Road potholes cause accidents.

Meanwhile, Lands Minister Alhaj Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed MP has approved the tender process for the renovation of the road.
