23 Rohingyas, including four brokers, were detained while preparing to go to Malaysia

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Police arrested 19 Rohingya men and women from Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar while preparing to go to Malaysia. At that time, four brokers were arrested for being involved in smuggling. The arrested brokers are Zahid (30), Jamal (38), Hajera (50), and Yunus (24).

They were arrested at Amin Sharif’s house in the Teknaf Nightong neighborhood on Friday (May 26) around 10:15 PM. Police rescued 19 Rohingya men and women. Among them were six women, six men, and seven children.

Confirming the matter, Teknaf Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Halim said that 19 people were waiting on the seashore to cross over to Malaysia at night. Based on secret information, a team raided Teknaf and rescued them. At that time, four brokers were arrested for being involved in smuggling.

He also said that a case has been filed under the Human Trafficking Act against the four arrested brokers.
