Dhaka Bureau: The Foreign Secretary-level meeting between Dhaka and Beijing will be held today, Saturday (May 27). Chinese Foreign Ministry Vice Minister Sun Weideng arrived in Dhaka on Friday to participate in the meeting.
He is scheduled to lead the Chinese delegation to the FOC this morning. Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen will lead the Bangladeshi delegation in the meeting.
It is known that Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen held a meeting with Myanmar on April 18 this year with the mediation of China regarding Rohingya repatriation. This meeting will discuss and advance the discussion held in Kunming, China. As a result, the Rohingya topic will be important in this meeting. Apart from this, various bilateral issues between Bangladesh and China will also be discussed.
According to another source, China is interested in a high-level political visit from Bangladesh this year. This time, it might be an invitation.
It is reported that Sun Weideng will have a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tomorrow, Sunday.
Earlier, the Prime Minister last visited China in 2019.
