Dhaka Bureau: From Kadmatoli Thana area of the capital. Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested two youths named Nasir Howladar and Syed Mohiuddin alias Salman.
The two arrested are members of the banned militant group Ansar al-Islam. On Sunday (November 6) they were arrested in a raid in Kadmatoli police station area.
A press release sent by the CTTC informed that the arrested are active members of the banned militant organization Ansar al-Islam. They are motivated to militancy by listening to the speeches of Ansar Al Islam’s spiritual leaders Jasim Uddin Rahmani and Tamim Al Adnani online, watching various extremist audios, videos and reading books. After that, he became a member of the banned militant organization Ansar al-Islam and started actively participating in ‘jihadi’ activities. A top fugitive member of the militant outfit works as a recruiter for the militant outfit Ansar Al Islam in and around Madaripur, Faridpur, Shariatpur. Basically they joined this organization through him.
The members of these militant organizations use different methods to collect money for the organization. They used to campaign for the organization by posting various extremist posts, motivational videos and anti-government posts on social media.
The two arrested members are encouraging the youth to join the so-called Jihad for the establishment of Islamic Caliphate through democratic process and anti-constitutional campaign. On the day of the incident, the arrested and absconding accused gathered at the spot to plan a conspiracy and sabotage against the security of the state. A case has been filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Kadmatoli Police Station.
