Bagerhat Correspondent: There has been a revolution in the information, technology and communication sector in Bangladesh. Currently, the country has earned one and a half billion dollars from this sector. Organizing such smart employment fairs will open new horizons of possibilities for the youth. Instead of running after a job, you have to become an entrepreneur and give jobs to others.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Department, Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said these things in the chief guest’s speech at the inauguration of Bagerhat Smart Employment Fair and grant check distribution among smart women entrepreneurs of the district at the Bagerhat Zilla Parishad Auditorium this Friday (May 12).
The state minister said that the current government has taken various steps in the ICT sector since 2009 to develop skilled human resources. The people of the country are enjoying its benefits. Sheikh Russell Digital Lab has been set up in 13 thousand schools in the country. Six and a half lakh youth are earning foreign exchange through freelancing. The number of current internet users has increased from 56 lakh to 13 crore.
He said that a 16-storey IT center will be constructed at a cost of Tk 170 crore on three acres of land in Bagerhat. Five hundred and 40 women entrepreneurs of Bagerhat district will be given free training and 20 thousand rupees. He hopes that the unemployment of people in this region will be eliminated through training.
The fair was inaugurated by Sheikh Sarhan Nasser Tanmoy, Member of Parliament of Bagerhat-2 Constituency.
Under the chairmanship of Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Azizur Rahman, Bagerhat-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Amirul Alam Milan, Information and Communication Technology Directorate Additional Director General SAM Rafiqunnabi and Superintendent of Police KM Ariful Haque spoke as special guests.
Md. Humayun Kabir, project director of Lanning and Earning Development, gave a welcome speech.
Nehal bin Hasan, head of BRAC Kuman, gave a welcome speech.
In the event, the state minister distributed a donation check of Tk 50 thousand to 40 smart women entrepreneurs of the district and laptops to 10 successful entrepreneurs.
Later, State Minister Hazrat Khanhazan Ali (RA) visited the Shrine and the Sixty-domed Mosque. In the afternoon, he attended the centenary celebration of Bagerhat Jadunath School and College, visited the proposed site of Muniganj Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center at Bagerhat Sadar and inspected the activities of Sheikh Russell Digital Lab and School of Future of Chirulia School and College at Bagerhat Sadar.
