Dhaka Bureau: 135 Bangladeshis arrived in the country from Sudan via Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The plane carrying them landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Airport on Monday (May 8) morning.
There are about 1,500 Bangladeshis in Sudan. Among them, about 700 Bangladeshis have registered to return to the country. Among them, about 650 Bangladeshis are currently staying in Port Sudan. Everyone will be brought back to the country gradually.
According to information received from the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, they left Jeddah for Dhaka on a regular flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Sunday night.
In the announcement, the embassy said 135 Bangladeshi citizens from war-torn Sudan arrived in Jeddah on three special planes of the Saudi Air Force. 70 people arrived in Jeddah on two planes in the afternoon and 65 on another plane in the afternoon.
Among these 135 people, there are 17 women, 11 children, and at least 8 sick people, a diplomatic source said.
