Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Police have arrested the accused father and son in connection with the murder of woman leader Lulu Al Marjan (38) in Palangkhali of Ukhia Upazila of Cox’s Bazar. The arrested persons are Md. Yusup’s father, Jahangir Alam (60), and his brother, Salim (21).
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Ukhia police station, Sheikh Mohammad Ali, confirmed the matter on Sunday afternoon.
He said that the two accused in the Lulu Al Marjan murder case were arrested in the Lohagara area of Chittagong in a seven-hour operation on Saturday night. However, the main owner Yusup is hiding. The OC said that efforts are on to catch him.
It is to be noted that Lulu Al Marjan was slaughtered and killed at her home in the West Palangkhali area of the Palangkhali Union of Ukhia Upazila around 8:30 p.m. last Thursday. The daughter of the deceased filed a case at the police station. There are four accused in the case. Four others remain unidentified.
Deceased Lulu Marjan is the wife of the late Mumtaz Mia of Paschimpara village of Palangkhali Union in Ukhia and a woman member of the Palangkhali High School Managing Committee. According to the police, Yusup is a drug dealer. Earlier, RAB had arrested him. He committed the murder after being released from prison.
