Dhaka Bureau: The picture of suffering to get a driving license in Narayanganj is not new. Such a situation has been going on for a long time. Daily suffering is seen in front of BRTA office for driving license. Extreme anger has arisen among driving license applicants. Meanwhile, Narayanganj’s new Superintendent of Police said that an operation will be launched against motorcycles in a few days. Motorcycles which do not have registration, but have documents are registered. But action will be taken against those who have none. Vehicle owners are flocking to the Narayanganj BRTA office every day. Especially the crowd of motorcyclists is noticeable.
According to customers, the authorities have given a slip to those who applied for BRTA license in 2019. With which you can drive the car. Now that slip is causing them harassment. Even after showing the slip, the traffic police is filing a case. Even in some cases, a fine of 500 to 1000 rupees has to be added per vehicle. Meanwhile, to get a smart driving license, from the application to receiving the license, there is a lot of suffering. Service seekers are forced to find brokers without getting a license after visiting for years. BRTA says that such a situation is due to the card crisis.
Raju Ahmed, who applied for the license, expressed his anger and said, “I applied in 2020, so far I have not received the license card.” When he came to them, he could not give the card even after giving time. Many people like Raju Ahmed complain of not getting their license for a long time. On the other hand, the applicant Sultan Ahmed is happy after getting the license after many days. He got the license and said, I didn’t get the license as if I got a golden deer. Getting a license after three years is like getting a golden deer. How many times have I gone to them for this card. According to him, thousands of applicants here are yet to receive their licenses. Only a few people got it.
On the other hand, a young man named Nazmul Hasan learned driving to avoid unemployment. But you need a license to get a job. He also applied in that hope. Even after two years, the license was not received. Both the job and the license are uncertain. In the uncertainty that there are many license candidates like Nazmul Hasan. BRTA introduced digital license system with electronic chip since 2011 to prevent the use of fake driving license. Online application is available at home. License to fair after passing written, oral and practical test after getting learner card. But this easy path is difficult today. In each case the petitioners suffered due to the long delay.
In this regard, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Narayanganj Circle Assistant Director Eng. Mo Shamsul Kabir said that about 5 thousand applicants have not received driving license yet.
