Dhaka Bureau: Bangladesh’s position in the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) has strengthened. We are better than many countries. We have come to this situation following the zero tolerance policy taken by the head of government against militancy. We have achieved top local success in fighting militancy and terrorism. IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said these things to the journalists after inspecting the security system on the occasion of the auspicious Buddha Purnima-2023 at Merul Badda International Buddhist Monastery in the capital today Thursday (May 04).

The IGP said that we have always been providing all-out support for the common citizens of the country to celebrate their respective religious festivals properly. The Prime Minister says that religion is everyone’s festival. And today we all come to meet together in that festival. I want to assure you that you will have the police force by your side in case of need. In case of any need, you can call the national emergency number 999 along with the local police.

In response to the question of the police about the Rohingya issue and the activities of various terrorist forces in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, the police chief said that whenever any incident takes place, we take action against it. Every event is our success. You will see a crime happening suddenly. But gradually these crimes are slowly decreasing again. We have taken our measures. It increased slightly but came back under control. Strict action will be taken against whoever is guilty.
