Daudkandi Correspondent: Jamal Hossain (40), a Jubo League leader, was shot dead by miscreants in Daudkandi Upazila of Comilla. Jamal Hossain is the joint convener of Titas Upazila Jubo League and the son of Fazlul Haque of Noagaon (Jiarkandi) village of the same upazila.
The shooting took place on Sunday (April 30) at around 8:00 p.m. in the Gouripur Paschim Bazar Eidgaon area of the upazila.
When Jubo League leader Jamal Hossain was taken to Daudakandi Upazila Health Complex in Gouripur in a state of bullet wounds, the doctor on duty Md. Moazzem Ahmed declared him dead. The doctor said that bullet marks were seen on the deceased’s chest. Before seeing anything else, the relatives took him to Dhaka.
Meanwhile, after the incident, a large number of members of the law and order force have been stationed in Gouripur market.
Jamal’s wife, Popi Akhter, who died in the hospital, said their home is in Gauripur village, Daudkandi. Jamal’s father’s name is the deceased Bazlul Haque. Jamal Titas is the joint convener of the Thana Jubo League. At night, he was going to Gouripur Bazar Mosque to offer Esha Namaz. Meanwhile, miscreants shot him indiscriminately. He was initially taken to a local hospital. From there, he was taken to Dhaka Medical and then to Dhaka Medical. He claimed that this killing was due to political conflict in the area.
In charge (inspector) of the Dhaka Medical Police Camp. Bachchu Mia confirmed the death and said that the victim was shot in the head and chest. The body has been kept in the morgue for post-mortem.
Daudkandi Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Alamgir Bhuya said, I heard the news that the Jubo League leader was shot dead in Gouripur market. Since the incident, members of law enforcement agencies have been at the scene.
