Adequate security measures have been taken to ensure a smooth Eid journey for passengers – IGP

Dhaka Bureau: Maximum measures have been taken to ensure the safety and traffic management of passengers in order to make the Eid journey of the people home by road, sea and rail smooth. IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said this while talking to reporters after visiting the capital’s Sayedabad bus terminal today (April 19) at noon.

At that time, DMP Commissioner Khandkar Golam Farooq and senior officials of DMP were present.

The IGP said that there is a crowd at various tourist spots during the Eid holidays. We have formulated our security plan keeping their safety in mind as well.

He said that all units of Bangladesh Police, including Dhaka Metropolitan Police, District Police, Highway Police, Naval Police, Railway Police, RAB, are performing their duties simultaneously. Our specialized units, SWAT, CID’s Crime Scene Unit, Dog Squad, Bomb Disposal Unit, ATU are working for the safety of passengers.

IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said security monitoring is being done by establishing control rooms and sub-control rooms at important points in the country including Dhaka city so that passengers can reach their respective destinations safely.
The police chief said that the Padma Bridge was built with the efforts of the honorable Prime Minister. Road condition has also improved more than before. He said that government holidays have already been extended.

He said, speaking at various bus counters, it is known that the pressure of passengers has not increased yet. The pressure of passengers will gradually increase.

Referring to the issue of Eid Jamatsthal, IGP said, we have taken security measures at Eid Jamatsthal. He requested the common passengers to refrain from taking any food or drink offered by fellow passengers on the journey, as there is a danger of falling into the clutches of Ajyan Party, Malam Party.

The IGP said the drive against unfit vehicles is continuing. He appealed to the drivers to drive cautiously.

In response to a question from journalists regarding the fire in various markets, the IGP said that the police is investigating every incident of fire. If any evidence of vandalism is found, strict action will be taken against those responsible.

Later IGP visited Sadarghat launch terminal. He talks to common passengers, launch owners, drivers and workers.

Additional IGP of Naval Police Md. Shafiqul Islam and other officials were present at this time.

Finally, the IGP visited Kamalapur railway station in the capital and inquired about the overall security arrangements.

Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Md Atiqul Islam BPM (Bar), PPM (Bar), Additional IGP of Railway Police Md Didar Ahmed BPM, PPM, Railway Police and senior officials of Bangladesh Railway were present.
