Sunamganj representative: Anti-tobacco training was held for the members of the task force committee and authorized officers to implement the tobacco control law under the control of smoking and use of tobacco products in Shantiganj and Sunamganj.
The training was held on Monday, April 17, at 11 a.m. in the hall of Shantiganj Upazila Parishad. Additional District Magistrate AKM Abdullah bin Rashid spoke as the chief guest.
Under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer Anwar Uz Zaman, Vice Chairman of Shantiganj Upazila Parishad Lecturer Noor Hossain, Female Vice Chairman Dulon Rani Talukdar, Aceland Sakina Akter, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Jasim Uddin Sharifi, and Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khaled Chowdhury,
Upazila Awami League President Sitanshu Shekhar Dhar Situ, Jayakals UP Chairman Abdul Bachit Sujan, Patharia UP Chairman Shahidul Islam, East Pagla UP Chairman Masuk Miah, East Birgaon UP Chairman Raizul Islam, Freedom Fighter Command Former Commander Ataur Rahman, and Primary Education Officer Salim participated in the training. Khan, Agriculture Extension Officer Mofazzal Hossain Maya, Women Affairs Officer Jahangir Alam, Secondary Academic Supervisor Noore Alam Siddiqui, Pagla Government High School and College Principal Syed Ramiz Uddin, Joykals Uzanigaon Rashidiya Government High School Principal Sachindra Chandra Sarkar, NGO Padma Executive Director Sajjad Hossain, General Secretary of Shantiganj Press Club Chajad Hossain Sabuj and organizing secretary Nitai Das, etc.
Speakers in the training said that social movement and awareness should be created along with law enforcement to control tobacco. It will be possible to achieve the desired goal. As a result, many diseases, including cancer, breathing problems, and heart problems caused by smoking, will be relieved. Conscious citizens, especially company heads, should become smoke-free and advise their colleagues to do the same. Because a person who does not smoke does not take drugs. So smoking should be taken seriously.
