Faridpur Correspondent: A mobile court has sentenced a drug addict named Kazi Yunus (54), in Alfadanga, Faridpur, to one year of unpaid labor and fined him Tk 2,200.
Judge Executive Magistrate and Upazila Executive Officer Rafiqul Haque passed the sentence by setting up a mobile court in the Garania area of Bana Union of Upazila with the help of the District Narcotics Control Department.
According to the relevant court sources, the drug addict was fined Tk 2,200 and sentenced to one year of imprisonment for the crime of consumption and use of ganja.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Judge Rafiqul Haque told the Bhorer paper that he was fined Tk 2,200 and given one year’s imprisonment in violation of Section 9(1)(c) of the Narcotics Control Act 2018 under Section 36(1) 21 of the same Act for consuming and using ganja. Imprisonment is awarded.
