In addition, the government is trying to make agriculture profitable in our country by subsidizing more than many countries in the world. Dhaka Chamber and Commerce and Industries organized the seminar.
Citing the example of Japan, the minister said, the contribution of agriculture to Japan’s GDP is less than two percent, but the Japanese government is giving huge subsidies for food security, to be self-sufficient in food. Japan is one of the top countries that subsidize agriculture.
The minister said that the present government is working to make agriculture modern and profitable as per the election promises. 50-70% subsidy is being given to farmers for agricultural machinery. As a result, agriculture is moving towards mechanization and modernization. In addition to government initiatives, private entrepreneurs and businessmen should come forward. Investment should be made in agricultural production, mechanization, processing. Only then, agriculture will be rapidly modernized, profitable.
Minister Abdur Razzak said that the government is working to take the country to the rank of a developed country by 2040. For that purpose, the agriculture sector is also being prepared in the same way.
