Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Hundreds of trees are being cut and removed from Jhow Bagan inside Sabrang Exclusive Tourism Park in Teknaf. Even though these trees are cut day after day, the people concerned are not willing to take responsibility. Sarzamin recently went to the scene and saw this horrible picture of cutting bushes from the garden.

It is known that the government has established an economic zone along Marine Drive at Sabrang Ekaka in Teknaf with 1,047 acres of land. The Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority started the construction of an exclusive tourism park here as a priority project of the Prime Minister. Plots have already been allocated here, along with the construction of offices, soil filling, and some roads. And in this economic zone, the coastal forest department has planted a number of jau tree plantations that have retained the charm of the area.

Recently, there has been a rush to cut down trees in that area. Hundreds of cut stems of shrubs inform coastal gardens. On the afternoon of April 6, Sarzamin went to the exclusive zone and found that the garden of Jhau trees had been destroyed. Some tree stumps still exist as signs.

Meanwhile, a related source claimed that the responsible officer and guard of the exclusive zone have stolen money by selling the shrubs in the space of soil filling.

The site assistant engineer working at Sabrang Tourism Park talked about this. With Nabiul. He said that officers or people stay here during office hours. There are three security staff members on weekends. Maybe the local people cut this bush during the holidays.

The official did not respond to the question of whether any legal action has been taken in this regard.

President of the Teknaf Environment Journalist Forum, Alhaj Chayed Hoshain, said the coastal green belt of Jhaubagan acts as a shield against natural disasters. To destroy them, you must destroy the coast.
