Dhaka Bureau: In March, 415 people lost their lives in 387 road accidents across the country. 688 people were injured.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Divisional Offices have collected this information about road accidents from all over the country.
According to BRTA data, the number of vehicles involved in accidents in the month of March 2023 was 536. Among them were 10 cars (1.87%), 87 buses (16.23%), 30 pickups (5.60%), 48 autorickshaws (8.96%), 103 trucks (19.22%), 100 motorcycles (18.66%), battery-operated rickshaws 02 (0.37%), easybikes 08 (1.49%), tractors 11 (2.05%), ambulances 04 (0.75%), vans 11 (2.05%), microbuses 12 (2.24%), and other vehicles 110 (20.52%).
According to department-wise data, 135 people were killed and 132 injured in 117 road accidents in Dhaka division, 104 people were killed and 229 injured in 87 road accidents in Chittagong division, 54 people were killed and 67 injured in 52 road accidents in Rajshahi division, and 37 people were injured in 37 road accidents in Khulna division. 33 people were killed and 60 injured in accidents; 22 people were killed and 42 injured in 18 road accidents in Barisal division; 12 people were killed and 7 injured in 19 road accidents in Sylhet division; and 30 people were killed and 115 injured in 36 road accidents in Rangpur division. In Mymensingh division, 21 road accidents killed 25 people and injured 36 others.
In the month of March, 415 people were killed in various vehicle accidents. Among them, there were 4 people in motorcar accidents, 80 people in bus accidents, 16 people in pickups, 47 people in autorickshaws, 64 people in trucks, 87 people in motorcycles, 2 people in battery-operated rickshaws, 1 person in easybikes, 4 people in tractors, 1 person in an ambulance, 6 people in vans, and 7 people in microbuses. 96 people lost their lives in accidents with other vehicles.
Note that the number of accidents in January 2023 was 322 across the country. 333 people lost their lives and 336 were injured in these accidents. 303 people lost their lives and 416 were injured in 308 accidents in February.
