Dhaka Bureau: Dhaka Divisional Manager (DRM) Mohammad Safiqur Rahman said that the Eid special train will run for five days from Joydevpur Railway Junction to Panchagarh to facilitate the Eid journey of garment workers in Gazipur.
He said that the train will halt at Kismat, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Parvatipur, Phulbari, Birampur, Joypurhat, and Santahar stations.
Mohammad Sofiqur Rahman also said that 100% of Eid Yatra tickets will be sold online. He also said that 15 lakh passengers have already registered online. The ticket holder should travel and carry the NID.
Bangladesh DRM (Dhaka) Mohammad Sofiqur Rahman gave this information at a press conference at Joydevpur Railway Junction on Wednesday afternoon.
He said that from April 18 to April 20, and after Eid on April 24 and 25, the Eid Special (Bir Muktijoddha Sirajul Islam) train will run on the Joydevpur-Panchgarh railway. The train will leave Joydevpur station at 7:30 PM every evening and reach Vir Muktijoddha Sirajul Islam station in Panchagarh at 5:25 AM the next day. On the way back, Vir Muktijoddha of Panchagarh will leave from Sirajul Islam station at 6:25 a.m. and reach Joydevpar Junction at 3:45 p.m.
Safikur Rahman said, on the occasion of Eid, another special train, the Chilahti Express, will run from Dhaka to North Bengal. Besides, all other trains will run as per schedule like on other days. All safety measures have been taken to ensure the smooth return of passengers for the upcoming Eid ul-Fitr.
Bangladesh Railway Dhaka Division Assistant Commercial Officer Kabir Uddin, Railway Security Commandant Shahid Ullah, Assistant Transport Officer Aminul Haque, and Traffic Inspector Shahjahan Patwari were also present at the press conference.
