Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is coordinating and keeping track of the fire incident in Bangabazar. The prime minister’s deputy press secretary, Hasan Zahid Tushar, gave this information at 11 a.m. on Tuesday (April 4).
Earlier, the fire service received information about the fire at 6:10 in the morning.
Fire Service Control Room Duty Officer Rafi Al Farooq confirmed this. He said that at 6:10 in the morning, there was a report of a fire in Bangabazar Market. After receiving the news, the first unit of the fire service reached the spot at 6:12. One by one, units go to the scene in stages. 50 units have joined the fire as of the latest news. Members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force have also joined.
Meanwhile, the Bangbazar fire spread to the metropolitan shopping complex. The four-story police barracks building inside the headquarters was burned in that fire.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner (Operations) Biplab Kumar said that a fire broke out in the four-story building of the police barracks inside the police headquarters. All the rooms of that building were burned. Jalkaman arrived at 11:15. The fire service is providing water. The building is adjacent to the Metropolitan Shopping Complex.
