Jhenaidah Correspondent: The husband and wife passengers of a sallow engine-driven van died after being hit by a fish-laden pickup in Jhenaidah’s Kaliganj. At this time, two other passengers, including the van driver, were injured. The accident happened in front of Kaliganj Mubarakganj Sugar Mill on Tuesday (March 28) around 6 a.m. The deceased are Chhabdar Ali (50) and his wife Parveena Begum (45) of Biyakhali village of Jhenaidah Sadar.
In this incident, the injured are Sathi Khatun, the daughter of the deceased, Karim, the driver of the van, and another child. They were rescued and treated at the Upazila Health Complex.
Kaliganj police station sub-inspector Iqbal Kabir said that Chhabdar Ali left with his family members to take his daughter to a doctor in Jessore after offering Fajr prayers in the morning. On the way, when they reached Mubarakganj Sugar Mill in Kaliganj, a fish-laden pickup coming from the opposite direction hit them. Parveena Begum died on the spot. Meanwhile, her husband Chhabdar Ali, daughter Sathi Khatun, grandson and van driver Karim were admitted to Upazila Health Complex with serious injuries. Chhabdar Ali’s condition deteriorated, and he died on the way to Jessore General Hospital.
He also said that the bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies.
