300 crores in ‘Kantara’ movie

Entertainment Desk: Kannada language movie ‘Kantara’. This movie directed by Rishabh Shetty was released on September 30. It has been ruling the box office ever since its release. The film’s earnings increased further in Diwali, which continues to this day. It also broke the record of the highly successful movie ‘Baahubali 2’. On the other hand, the Rs 16 crore budgeted movie has grossed over Rs 300 crore worldwide till yesterday.

Pinkvilla reported in a report that in the fifth week of its release, the movie ‘Kantara’ broke the record of the movie ‘Baahubali 2’ in India. The movie grossed Rs 65 crore in the fifth week. 10 percent less than last week. And ‘Baahubali 2’ earned Rs 40 crore in the fifth week. In India alone, the total income of the movie ‘Kantara’ stands at Rs 275 crores. Now moving towards Rs.300 crores. And the movie grossed 303 crores worldwide.

On September 30, ‘Kantara’ was released in 250 theaters in Karnataka. It was simultaneously released in the US, UK, Europe, Middle East and Australia. After the success in Kannada, the director announced dubbing in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam.

As planned, it was released in Hindi on October 14, Telugu and Tamil on October 15. The Hindi version was initially announced for release in over 800 screens in India; It later released in 2500 screens.

The word ‘Kantara’ means deep forest. The story of the movie is based on the local village deity ‘Bhuta’. The director has shown it for three different periods. Director Rishabh Shetty has also written the screenplay and acted in the movie ‘Kantara’ produced by Humble Films. The movie also stars Kishore, Achyuta Kumar, Saptami Gowda, Pramod Shetty and others.
