Tangail Correspondent: 27 dead people were revived in Gopalpur. 203 people are still in the ICU. It has been reported that they will also be revived within a week. Savitri Rani, wife of Nitai Chandra Das of Bishnupur village in Dhopakandi union of the upazila, alleged that she was included in the dead list when the voter list was updated last year. Last Sunday, while checking the mobile bank account, he was found dead in the database. Later, when he went to the election office, he was asked to apply along with the certificate of the concerned union council chairman as proof that he is still alive. Later, Dhopakandi collected a certificate from Union Parishad Chairman Sirajul Islam last Monday stating that Savitri Rani did not die. He proved that he is alive by physically appearing in the Union Plaza office. As a result, he should be free of harassment by correcting Mr.’s false information.
Similarly, 27 people, including Shafiqul Islam, son of Aman Ali of Gangapara village, and Deepak Das, son of Nitai Das of Jotbishnupur village, have been included in the dead list. They have been deprived of admission of their children to schools and colleges, withdrawal of old age allowance, hospital treatment, and bank services for six months. Many have been subjected to extreme harassment for not being able to withdraw their allowance money or the money saved in the bank. Later, they were able to withdraw their names from the dead list by applying to the upazila election office in a special form. Anwar Hossain, the office assistant of the Gopalpur election office, said that more than one and a half hundred field workers were appointed to update the voter list a year ago. All of them were schoolteachers. They go door to door to update the voter list and include the list of dead voters. Each of them is taught the rules. But they neglected their duty. Has arranged harassment by including the living in the list of the dead.
Upazila Election Officer Matiar Rahman admitted the truth of the incident and said that the field workers were given a satisfactory rate of remuneration. The necessary training is provided. But during the later scrutiny of the documents, it is seen that around twenty-two and a half living people are listed as dead. This number is increasing day by day. It is now difficult to bring these people back to life. Every day, these people who are dead on paper are coming to the office. A separate file has been opened for them. Many people call this file an “ICU’ file. From this file, we go through the serial applications and necessary documents and place them in the list of survivors. If the higher authority approves, a case will be filed against these field workers if necessary.
