Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged stakeholders to ensure sustainable export growth in the wake of Ukraine war and find a way to explore new global markets for Bangladeshi products.
He said this at the 11th meeting of the National Committee on Exports at Ganobhaban on Monday (March 20).
Sheikh Hasina said that due to the war in Ukraine, the situation arising from the global economic recession should be analyzed and measures should be taken to achieve sustainable export growth.
The Prime Minister urged all concerned to diversify the export products and revive the local market as well as find new markets for these products.
He said that due to the war in Ukraine, the demand has increased and the opportunity to find new markets for Bangladeshi products has been created globally. We have to capture these markets.
Apart from this, the Prime Minister also called for the formulation of new export policies for another four or five years by revising, changing and developing the existing export policies that will expire by 2024.
He said the new export policy should be adopted after analyzing the ongoing global economic downturn, war sanctions and counter-sanctions and the challenges and opportunities that might arise in Bangladesh after the transition from LDC by 2026. Source: BSS
