Special Reporter: Voting for general and by-elections is underway in hundreds of union councils, municipalities, and upazilas. Voting started at 8 a.m. on Thursday (March 16) and will continue until 4 p.m.
It is known that general elections are being held in 46 UPs, by-elections for other posts, including the post of chairman, in 70 UPs, general and by-elections for various posts in three municipalities, and general and by-elections in two upazilas.

Upazila: General elections are being held in Lalmai Upazila of Comilla. Bye-elections are being held in Amtali Upazila of Chittagong and Boalkhali of Chittagong. However, even though the polling date has been fixed for this day, he was elected unopposed because there was only one candidate in the chairmanship by-election in Nazirpur of Pirojpur, Tongibari of Munshiganj, and Raipura of Narsingdi. So there is no need to vote in these three upazilas.
Municipalities: General elections are being held in Chittagong’s Nazirhat, Tangail’s Elenga, and Mymensingh’s Haluaghat municipalities. Apart from this, although there are elections for mayor and other positions in nine municipalities, the candidates for the posts of mayor in Chuadanga Darshana Municipality, councilor in Ward No. 8 of Feni Municipality, and councilor in Ward No. 6 of Madaripur Municipality were elected unopposed. Therefore, in the remaining six by-elections, candidates are being sought for ward councilor No. 9 of Madukhali Municipality of Faridpur, ward No. 4 of Badarganj of Rangpur, councilor of Ward No. 2 of Pirganj of Thakurgaon, councilor of Ward No. 2 of Thakurgaon Municipality, councilor of Reserved Ward No. 3, and councilor of Ward No. 1 of Rahanpur Municipality of Chapainawabganj.
