Nurul Islam: Lohagara police arrested 3 smugglers along with 100 liters of locally made mountain liquor on Saturday, March 11, at 9:30 a.m. Meanwhile, one CNG-powered autorickshaw used for smuggling liquor has been seized.
In the Lohagara Upazila Adhunagar Union No. 2 area in front of a filling station on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway, smugglers were arrested. These hill liquors are brought by 3 smugglers, including a woman from Aziznagar in hilly Lama upazila, for the purpose of Chittagong city.
Those arrested with alcohol are the residents of North Harbang Kurbainya Ghona Elka of Chakaria Upazila of Cox’s Bazar, the son of deceased Abdul Latif of Manikchari Upazila of Khagrachari. Isaac (52). Yachmin Akhter (28), wife of Khokon Mia of Dohazari area of Chandnaish Upazila, resident of North Harbang Tachiyar Pahar area, and Kurban Ali (50), son of deceased Ashraf Ali of Satkania Harinanagar area, resident of North Kalauzan of Lohagara Upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Lohagara police station Atiqur Rahman said that based on secret information, a team of police led by SI Shariful Islam arrested the 3 people along with liquor. In this regard, a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act at the Lohagara police station.
