Sukanth Bikash Dhar, Satkania: Satkania Thana police arrested a youth named Jamal Hossain (25), after setting up a search post on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway.
At that time, the police searched his body and recovered a country-made single-barreled gun (LG) and two rounds of fresh bullets. Last Friday at around 12 o’clock in the Khuni Battal area of Kenochia Union of the upazila, a CNG-powered autorickshaw was stopped, the body of the youth was searched, and weapons and bullets were recovered.
Arrested is the son of Mobarak Hossain, a laborer at his father’s house in the Chowdhury Hat area, Ward No. 9 of Dhemsha Union of Jamal Upazila.
Satkania Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Yashir Arafat said that the arrested Jamal was driving a CNG-powered taxi from the Keranihat area to Maulvi’s shop area.
At that time, the police on duty at the checkpoint searched Jamal’s body and recovered a country-made gun and bullets. A case has been registered against him under the Arms Act. Today (Saturday) morning, he was handed over to the court with a remand application.
