Prime Minister presented the National Film Award

Entertainment Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the National Film Award for 2021 to the winners as the highest recognition for their special contribution to the Bangladesh film industry. On Thursday (March 9) afternoon, he handed over the prizes to the winners at a function organized at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital.

The National Film Award-2021 ceremony was presided over by Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud. President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) and former Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu is the special guest at the event. The program is being presented by two popular stars of the Dhakai movie Ferdous Ahmed and Nusrat Faria.

A total of 34 awards are being given in 27 categories for the selected movies of 2021 that have made a special contribution to the film industry. This time, actress Dolly Jahoor and actor Ilyas Kanchan jointly received a lifetime achievement award for their significant contributions to films.

Besides, those who got the award are: Best film jointly went to Matia Banu Shuku (Red Rooster’s Comb) and Rezwan Shahriar Sumit (Poetry of Nonazal). Best film director Rezwan Shahriar Sumit (Kavya of Nonajal) and best actor jointly Siam Ahmed (Mridha Vs. Mridha) and Mir Sabbir Mahmud (Ratzaga Phool), Best Actress Jointly, Ajmeri Haque Bandhan (Rehana Maryam Noor), and Tasnova Tamanna (Nonajal Kavya), Best Actor in a Supporting Role, M Fazlur Rahman Babu (Nonajal Kavya), Best Actress Shampa Reza (Padmapuran) as a side role, and Best Actor as Khal. Abdul Mannan Jayraj (Red Rooster’s Comb)

Prabhas Kumar Bhattacharya Milan for Best Actor in a Comedy Role (Mridha vs. Mridha), Best Child Artist Afia Tabassum (Rehana Mariam Noor), Special Award for Child Artist Category Jannatul Mawa Jhelik (What Gets Lost).

Best Music Director Sujay Shyam (Jayavati Kanya’s Mind), Best Singer KM Abdullah-Al-Murtaza Muhin (Shona Kaami Aaj-Padmapuraan), Best Singer Chandana Mazumdar (Seeing Picture Crazy Hobby-Padmapuraan), Best Lyricist Late Gazi Mazharul Anwar (Inside Antar Jal-Jaivati Kanya’s Mind), and the great composer Sujay Shyam (Antar Jal-Jaivati Kanya’s Man)

Best Storyteller: Rezwan Shahriar Sumit (Poetry of Nonazal), Best Screenplay: Noorul Alam Atiq (Red Rooster’s Comb), and Best Dialogue Writer: Tauqeer Ahmed (Sfulinga).

Best Editor Samir Ahmed (Red Rooster’s Comb), Best Art Director Shihab Noorun Nabi (Nonazaler Kavya), Best Cinematographer Syed Kashef Shahbaji, Suman Kumar Sarkar, Mazharul Islam Raju (Red Rooster’s Comb), Best Sound Designer Shaib Talukder (Rehana Maryam Noor), and Best Costume and Decoration Idila Kacharin Farid (Poetry of Saltwater). The best makeup man team is Md. Farooq and Md. Farhad Reza Milan (Red Rooster’s Comb).

Best Short Film: Aka Reza Ghalib (Dhar); Best Documentary: Kawsar Chowdhury (A Day in the Slaughterhouse).

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting formed a 13-member jury board on August 16 last year to award the National Film Award. A total of 45 films, including 21 full-length, 17 short-length, and 7 documentary films released in 2021, were submitted for the National Film Awards.
