Kushtia Correspondent: A three-day commemoration festival is starting from Saturday at Fakir Lalon Shah’s Akhrabari in Chenuria of Kumarkhali Upazila in Kushtia, under the slogan Manhus Bhajle, Sonar Manhus Habi. On this occasion, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and District Administration, a discussion meeting on the working life and philosophy of Lalon and a Lalon musical performance by local and foreign artists have been organized by the initiative of Lalon Academy.
Besides, a village fair is held in the Mara Kali Nadi courtyard in front of the main shrine. Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub ul Alam Hanif will officially inaugurate the three-day commemoration after Saturday’s dinner as the chief guest. The three-day event will end on Monday.
Lalan devotees and followers say that during his lifetime, Lalan Fakir used to organize Dol Utsav and Sadhu Sangha every year on Dol Purnima Tithi with his disciples and followers. Since then, sadhusang is organized every year at Akhrabari of Lalan Saiji on the occasion of Dolatsav. However, due to the holy Sabbath, this year breaking the rule of a hundred years, instead of Purnima, the festival will officially start from the 12th Tithi and the event will end on the day before Purnima.
However, the saints and followers of Lalan’s main stream who come will, according to tradition, start the sadhusang on March 6th, Dol Purnima Tithi, with an evening retreat and end the sadhusang with a full service at noon the next day.
Fakir Lalan Sai, the creator of prophetic philosophies During his lifetime, the sadhusang used to sit on the night of Jotsnalok of Falgun on the occasion of Dol Purnima. One of the bases of this festival is that on such a doldrums day Lalan Saiji appeared at the Ghats of the Kali River in Chaunuria.
The shrine is decorated with colorful decorations. There is a huge fair on the banks of the Kali River. At the same time, the Lalan stage has been prepared for the discussion meeting and Lalan songs throughout the night.
