Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left for Qatar to attend the fifth United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries.
He left Dhaka for Doha on Biman Bangladesh Airlines BG-325 VVIP flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 11:30 on Saturday, March 4.
The Prime Minister will arrive at Doha Hamad International Airport in the afternoon local time. At the airport were the high-level representative of the Qatari government and the ambassador of Bangladesh in Doha. Nazrul Islam will welcome Sheikh Hasina. From the airport, the Prime Minister will proceed to the residence during the visit. Later in the afternoon, he will proceed to the Qatar National Convention Center from the residence.
On the first day of the visit, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will meet UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, UN General Assembly President Saba Korosi, and UNDP Administrator Asim Steiner. On the second day of the visit, the Prime Minister will address the conference as a special guest speaker on March 5.
The UN Secretary General, the President of the General Assembly, and the current chair of the LDC Group will also address the President of Malawi. Besides, Sheikh Hasina will also address the program organized by the three Asian countries—Bangladesh, Nepal, and Lao PDR—which are on the way to transition from the list of least developed countries. Besides, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a meeting with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar and President Paul Kagame of Rwanda on this day.
On the third day, March 6, at the Business Summit organized jointly by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, regional ambassadors will participate in the conference. On this day, Sheikh Hasina will meet with the President of Malaya, Lazarus McCarthy.
On the fourth day, on March 7, the Prime Minister will attend a round table meeting on increasing the participation of less developed countries in international trade, a program related to Smart Bangladesh, and a community event organized by Bangladeshi citizens living in Qatar.
After her visit to Qatar, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave Doha on March 8 local time and return to Dhaka on Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, Minister of Foreign Affairs AK Abdul Momen and Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi
