Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked businessmen to think about the country and people before profit. He made this call during an exchange of views with importers and exporters of consumer goods at Ganabhaban on Wednesday (October 26).
Addressing the businessmen, the Prime Minister said, ‘There is no wind farm here to share your profit (profit). And there is no development wing in the PMO (Prime Minister’s Office).’
Sheikh Hasina said that in the last 14 years during the Awami League government, the businessmen of the country have made profits without hindrance by running their business.
He said that at present, the businessmen of the country are free from the ‘torment’ and ‘hawa buildings’ of the development wing of the Prime Minister’s Office. Now you don’t have to suffer from this pain. You have to admit it.
The Chief Minister said that in the past the bulk of the profits went to Hawa Bhavan and Prime Minister’s Development Wing….Remember and think about the country and the people.
The Prime Minister also said that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the government has given incentive packages to traders to run their businesses smoothly. They didn’t want it though.
He said a team was formed through his initiative and it worked well to drive the economy.
Sheikh Hasina said that many factories and industries in developed countries were closed during the epidemic. We said factories and industries will not be closed. We have to continue… I have ensured the wages of the workers. Incentive package given.
Meanwhile, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Advisor Salman Fazlur Rahman, Prime Minister’s Chief Secretary Dr. Ahmed Kaykaus and the senior secretary of the Prime Minister’s office. Tofazzal Hossain Mia was present.
FBCCI President Jasim Uddin, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and some top businessmen were present among the businessmen.
