Sukant Bikash Dhar, Satkania: A son named Md. Akkas Uddin (23), who was mentally unstable, was killed on the spot by his father’s ax in Satkania. Last Sunday (February 26) night, the incident took place in the Masjid Charpara area of Ward No. 4 of East Gatiadenga Taktar of Nalua Union of Upazila. On the night of the incident, the father, Hoshan Ahmed (65), was arrested, and the police recovered the ax used in the incident. Yashir Arafat, OC of the police station, said that on Sunday midnight, Akkas’ elder brother Md. Yunus filed a murder case at Satkania police station, making his father the sole accused.
According to local sources, on the day of the incident, in increasing madness, the murdered Akkas tried to kill his mother and father several times with a machete and an ax in the house but failed. When Akkas entered the house at night and wanted to kill his parents with an ax again, the father and son engaged in a fight. At one point, the father got angry and took the ax from his son and hit him on the head several times, causing the son to die on the spot. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body, arrested the father, and took him to the police station.
In this regard, Mahbub Alam, a UP member of Ward No. 4 of Nalua Union, said that the grandmother of the murdered Akkas was also crazy. They are all mentally unstable except the first son of the four brothers. Among them, Mezh Boy committed suicide by hanging himself about three years ago. Their father, Hoshan Ahmad, is also not fully healthy.
Satkania Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Shibli Noman said, “Initially, it is known that the son first went to kill the father with an axe.” Later, the father also snatched the ax from his son’s hand in self-defense and hit him three times on the head, causing the son to die on the spot. Shibli Noman also said that the investigation in the area revealed that the son has been completely mentally unbalanced for a long time. His father is much like his son.
In this regard, Deputy Inspector Md. Jahangir Alam, the investigation officer of the case and working at the Dhemsha Police Investigation Center, said that although the father did not confess to the murder in the initial interrogation, the mother confirmed that the poison was used by the father to kill the son with an ax.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkania Police Station Yasir Arafat said, after the autopsy, the body will be handed over to the family. The father was produced in court this morning (Monday). An application will be made to the court to remand the father.
