Pabna representative: Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said, “We want participation and competitive, neutral elections.” I am working towards that goal. But all matters are not under our control; political parties also have some responsibilities. Our duty is to hold elections; we must hold elections.
He said this in a day-long workshop at the conference room of the Bangladesh Sugar Crop Research Institute on Sunday (February 26).
The CEC said that the transparency of the upcoming election process will be ensured through the use of information technology. It is possible to present a fair and beautiful election with the combined efforts of the administration and police. A large event like elections cannot be carried out by a single organization.The existing challenges in this field have to be overcome through the use of information technology.
He also said that the current commission has been able to maintain transparency and accountability in elections and prevent all irregularities in polling stations. All parties should have confidence in the Election Commission.
Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner GSM Zafarullah NDC presided over the workshop as special guests along with Election Commission Secretariat Additional Secretary and Project Director Ashok Kumar Debnath, Rajshahi Deputy Inspector General of Police (Range DIG) Abdul Baten, Pabna Deputy Commissioner Biswas Russell Hossain, and Superintendent of Police Akbar Ali Munshi.
