Dhaka Bureau: Nobel Laureate Dr. The Appellate Division has ordered the Labor Court not to frame charges against Muhammad Yunus until March 27. Monday (February 20), Senior Judge of the Appellate Division A 3-member appellate bench headed by Nuruzzaman issued a new order on this day.
Along with this, the Appellate Division also ordered the Directorate of Mill Factories and Institutions not to initiate the case. Earlier, 17 days ago, a bench of the High Court had ordered the trial in the lower court without staying the case.
On December 12, 2021, the chairman of Grameen Telecom was accused of violating the labor law. The High Court suspended the proceedings in the case against Muhammad Yunus. At the same time, the court issued a ruling asking why the case should not be dismissed. On September 9, last year, the chairman of Grameen Telecom was charged with violating labor law.The Directorate of Factories and Institutions of Dhaka filed a case against four people, including Muhammad Yunus.
Arifuzzaman, labor inspector of the Directorate of Factories and Institutions, filed this case in the Third Labor Court of Dhaka. The court issued summons for the defendants to appear in court. The other accused in the case are: Grameen Telecom MD Ashraful Hasan, Director Noor Jahan Begum, and Shahjahan. These three defendants also pleaded the case separately.
According to the complaint in the case, the officials of the Department of Factories and Institutions Visit Grameen Telecom in Yunus. They found some violations of labor laws. Among them, 101 workers were supposed to be made permanent, but they were not. The Workers’ Participation Fund and Welfare Fund have not been constituted. Apart from this, 5 percent of the company’s dividend was supposed to be given to the workers, but it was not given to them. Based on these allegations, a case was filed against the concerned persons under the criminal law.
