Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will present “Ekushey Padak 2023” to 19 distinguished individuals and two institutions in recognition of their important contributions in various fields on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day.
He will present the medal in a ceremony at the capital’s Osmani Smriti Auditorium at 11 a.m. on Monday (February 20).
On February 12, the government announced the names of the recipients of the Ekushey Medal. This year there are three in the language movement category, one in liberation war, eight in the arts (acting, music, recitation, fine arts, and painting), two in politics, one individual and one organization in education, one individual and one organization in social service, and one in journalism, research, and language and literature. I received the award.
The names of Khaleda Manzoor-e Khuda, freedom fighter AKM Shamsul Haque (posthumous), and Haji Mohammad Mojibur Rahman have been announced for the award in the language movement category.
Masood Ali Khan and Shimul Yusuf in the acting category, Manoranjan Ghoshal, Gazi Abdul Hakim, and Fazal-e-Khoda (posthumous) in the music category, Jayant Chatterjee in the recitation category, Nawazeesh Ali Khan in the art category, and Kanak Champa in the painting category are receiving the Chakma Award.
Mumtaz Uddin (posthumously) is receiving the award in the Liberation War category, MD, in journalism. Shah Alamgir (posthumous), research Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, professor in education Dr. Mazharul Islam (posthumous), Saidul Haque in social service, advocate Manjurul Islam (posthumous), Akhtar Uddin Mia (posthumous) in politics, and Dr. in language and literature Moniruzzaman receives the award.
Bangladesh National Museum in the education category and Vidyananda Foundation in social service are receiving the award.
