Dhaka Bureau: The Thana police have arrested 5 people, including a BCL leader named Babli Akter, for being involved in cow theft in some areas of Dhaka’s Dhamrai.
Babli was arrested from Nayabari in Radio Colony of Savar Municipal area on Wednesday (November 2). Babli is the student affairs secretary of Dhaka District North Chhatra League. She is the daughter of Badsha Mia of Nayabari area.
The other accused are Habul Sardar (38), son of deceased Kadam Ali Sardar (38), son of deceased Kadam Ali Sardar of Galai Bangga area of Muladi police station, Barisal district, Raju Ahmed (24), son of Hyder Ali of Daulatpur area of Manikganj district, Arif (22), son of Nur Islam of Nagorpur police station of Tangail district, Kacha Rajapur of Dhamrai police station. Shahadat Hossain (28), son of Shahidullah Mia of the area. They were arrested from Ashulia, Palashbari and Dhamrai in Savar.
Saidul Islam, President of Dhaka District North Chhatra League, said that Babli belongs to our organization. He has been relieved of party duties. A recommendation has been made to the central leaders to fire him.
There are complaints that this gang has been stealing cows in different areas for a long time. Victims have filed multiple complaints at Dhamrai Police Station regarding cow theft.
Dhamrai Police Station (OC) Operations Nirmal Kumar Das said that there have been several incidents of cow theft in different places in Dhamrai. A case has been filed regarding this. While investigating those cases, it was found that a girl named Babli kept the cows in her custody and sold them. He was arrested in that incident.
