Bashir Almamun, City Reporter: Chittagong City Corporation (CHSIC) has found evidence of irregularities in the urgent purchase of Tk 77 lakh 37 thousand mosquito repellants without calling for tenders. Last Thursday Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Chittagong-1 assistant director Md. The enforcement team led by Emran Hussain found the truth. Chittagong City Corporation authorities purchased mosquito killers 16 times from December 2021 to October 2022 without calling for tenders. As a result, 77 lakh 37 thousand 300 taka was spent from the allocated money.
ACC Assistant Director Md. Emran Hossain said, a review of records shows that from December 2021 to October 2022, a total of 77 lakh 37 thousand 300 rupees of medicine was purchased 16 times from the money allocated for the purchase of mosquito medicine. The City Corporation violated Rule 74 (1) and Rule 77 of PPR-2008 by not conducting the Open Tender Process (OTM).
Md. Emran Hossain also said that the contracting company has been profited illegally by inviting tenders of less than 5 lakh rupees each time. 16 work orders have been issued under direct purchase method to benefit Orvin Saqib Ivan, proprietor of M/s Bengal Mark International. This ACC official said that the fact of irregularities has been proved in the operation.
