Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the government is working to bring the people who conduct anti-government activities, make provocative and fabricated statements under the law.
The Prime Minister said this in a written reply to a question by Awami League member Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan during the question and answer session of the Jatiya Sangsad session on Wednesday (November 2).
Sheikh Hasina said that expatriate/immigrant Bangladeshi people living in different countries of the world make important contributions to the respective countries through their talent, education and work. Apart from sending remittances to Bangladesh, they brighten the name and image of the country through their positive activities in the host country. They can also play a role in protecting the interests of Bangladesh in the host country. Sadly, in addition to playing a positive role, some of the expatriate/immigrant Bangladeshis stay outside the country and engage in negative propaganda against Bangladesh and the government. The government is working to bring the anti-government activities, provocative and completely fabricated statements to justice/punishment.
Regarding the steps taken for this purpose, the Prime Minister said that in order to deal with misinformation and to highlight the positive image of Bangladesh, plans have been made to publish informative news, articles and articles regularly in the international media and online media. Regular efforts are ongoing in this regard. When false and misleading news/reports are published in the international media, the Public Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sends an objective and informative protest letter to these reports, which are published or disseminated in those media.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, besides, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to ensure the free flow of objective information by immediately informing the people of the world through social media such as Facebook page and Twitter. The public diplomacy section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign missions regularly monitor the news or articles about Bangladesh published in the media of different countries and when false and misleading news/reports are published, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sends various publications in addition to objective and informative protest letters to these reports, which are published in those media or is promoted. In order to highlight the positive image of Bangladesh, regular informative news, articles, features, newsletters and articles are being published in international media and online media. The fake and baseless posts of the dissidents against the country are monitored through the social media of the dissidents.
