Rangamati Correspondent: The district police rescued 175 students including teachers of Chittagong College who were trapped in the Kaptai lake in Rangamati after receiving a call to emergency services 999.

The students stuck in the lake in Yarin area were rescued and brought to Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Ghat around 8 pm on Saturday (February 4).

Professor Abu Taher Bhuiyan, head of history department of Chittagong College, said that our passenger launch was stuck in Char area in Kaptai Lake around 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon. The launch drivers tried for a long time but could not move the launch. After a long time it became evening. We then panic a bit with the students. Since the Chittagong Hill Tracts are a special area, we are a bit afraid of so many students. After calling 999 and informing the police, they rescued us.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) of Rangamati. Jahedul Islam said that a launch from Chittagong College on an educational trip got stuck in the yaring area of Kaptai Lake. After calling 999, we urgently rescued them. Naval police members also helped us in this work.
