Dhaka Bureau: Polling in six parliamentary seats left vacant due to the resignation of BNP MPs ended without any major disturbance. There was no vote-rigging in the six-seat by-election. According to the information we received, the elections were held in a peaceful atmosphere. However, the voter turnout was low, the voter turnout rate was low, and Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal thinks that the voter turnout rate may be 15 to 30 percent.

He said all this to the journalists at the election building in Dhaka after the polls on Wednesday (February 1). Meanwhile, CEC said, “I have not received any information about widespread irregularities or vote robbery.” We would say the polls were generally peaceful and fair.

On this day, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, more than seven hundred centers voted in EVMs. There were no closed-circuit (CC) cameras anywhere in this election. Apart from the bombing outside the polling station in Chapainawabganj, the main topic of discussion throughout the day was the low voter turnout.

CEC said, “The attendance rate was relatively low.” It could be anywhere between 15-20%.I can’t say for sure yet; I have to wait.

He further said that no significant information about irregularities or manipulation was found. I have kept an eye on Brahmanbaria, and I have not seen any adverse information circulating there either. We received information from the control room that two chases happened in one place and a cocktail was freshly found. Off-center two-one cocktails are exploded.

When the presence of unwanted people in polling booths was brought to the CEC’s attention, he stated, “Two centers have been told to the returning officer on receiving such information.”At one center, a lady entered with her two children; at another, a lady entered to help a sick voter. These can be We do not consider these to be very serious or widespread irregularities, which could change the outcome of the vote. That kind of incident did not seem But moment by moment, I was watching from here in the media, and I didn’t see anything like vote robbery in the polling station or massive irregularities. From that point of view, we will say that the vote was generally peaceful and fair.

Explaining why attendance is low, the CEC said attendance may be low and indifferent due to a lack of competition at the desired level.

Expressing satisfaction with the assistance of the law and order forces and the administration, Kazi Habibul Awal said that the Commission’s efforts will continue to make the 12th parliamentary elections successful and meaningful.

The day after the members of the BNP announced their resignation at the Golap Bagh rally in Dhaka on December 10, they went to Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury’s office in Sangsad Bhavan and submitted their resignation letter.
