Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Five active members of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa), including the commander, were arrested in a joint operation by the law enforcement agencies in various Rohingya camps in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar.
Arsa Commander Dr. Rafiq (54), Member Mohammad Rafiq (20), Nurul Amin (34), Mohammad Rafiq (21) and Khairul Amin (32) were arrested.All of them are said to be residents of the Rohingya camp in Ukhia.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Senior Assistant Director) Abu Salam Chowdhury of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 15 of Cox’s Bazar confirmed their arrest on Sunday (January 28) night.
He said, based on secret information, the armed police and RAB team conducted a raid on Saturday night when they came to collect medicine for the injured members of Arsa in Ukhia market. At that time, they were chased and arrested when they tried to escape after realizing the presence of police and the RAB. There are several cases against them, including murder, drug possession, and police assault. Their case has been handed over to the Ukhia police station.
