Rajshahi Correspondent: Leaders and activists of various districts hired 7 trains of the Western Railway to attend Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s public meeting in Rajshahi. Today, January 29, these trains are running from various Rajshahi division stations in Sirajganj, Chapainawabganj, Natore Joypurhat, and Pabna.
Western Railway sources confirmed this information. Sirajganj-2 (Sadar and Kamarkhand) Constituency Member of Parliament, Prof. Habibe Millat Munna This train will carry Sirajganj leaders and activists.
In this context, Professor Dr. Habibe Millat MP said that the Sirajganj special train has been hired for one day on the Sirajganj-Rajshahi and Rajshahi-Sirajganj routes with advance application to the railway department and a fixed fare including VAT-source tax to go to the public meeting of Prime Minister and party leader Sheikh Hasina.
Chapainawabganj District Awami League General Secretary Abdul Odud Biswas said that two trains have been hired to facilitate the movement of activists to Rajshahi. The trains will go to Rajshahi in the morning, and after the public meeting, they will return to Chapainawabganj with the leaders and activists.
On the other hand, the MPs and party leaders of various constituencies rented seven special trains for Sunday on different routes, including Chilahati-Jaipurhat-Rajshahi, Natore-Rajshahi, Rahanpur-Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi, Santahar-Rajshahi, and Arani-Rajshahi, from the Western Railway Department.
Asim Kumar Talukder, General Manager (GM) of Western Railway Division, said the custom of such special train fares for major social events has been in operation since the British period. On January 29, seven special trains on the Rajshahi route from seven places, including Sirajganj, Natore, Joypurhat, Santahar, Chapainawabganj, Adani, and Rahanpur, were allocated from the railway department. In this case, the applicants have also paid the train fare in advance. The railroads got a huge amount of revenue from it.
