Anwara representative: The upazila administration has stopped the hill cutting of KEPZ under the direction of the High Court. The hill-cutting activities were stopped under the leadership of Anwara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Abdullah Al Mumin on Tuesday afternoon.
At that time the policemen of Anwarao Karnaphuli police station were present. It is known that KPZ is located in Anwara and Karnaphuli areas. KEPZ establishment is building factories by cutting mountains in the name of industrialization. In this regard, the administration and environment department have repeatedly ordered to stop the hill cutting. KEPZ authorities are continuing the hill cutting activities and building factories without any care.
On Tuesday, Upazila Assistant Commissioner Land and Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Mumin stopped the hill cutting operation. Policemen were also present in the operation. Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Abdullah Al Momin said that according to the instructions of the High Court, KEPZ has been ordered to stop the hill cutting activities.
He also said that this operation was carried out on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner. KEPZ AGM Mushfiqur Rahman said that environment friendly industrialization is being done. Industrialization plots are developed with the permission of Department of Environment. We are not cutting mountains. Industrialization by leveling the hills.
