The next goal is Smart Bangladesh

Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the government is working tirelessly to implement Vision 2041 with the promise of successfully implementing the dream of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build a golden Bangladesh. After building digital Bangladesh in the light of this vision, our next goal is to build Smart Bangladesh. Smart Bangladesh will have smart government, smart population and smart industries. The use of robotics, artificial intelligence, nano technology, genetic engineering, biotechnology i.e. digital devices will be ensured in all fields including business and commerce, health, education, agriculture.

He said these things in a speech given on the occasion of ‘Digital Bangladesh Mela 2023’ on Thursday (January 26).

The Prime Minister said, I am happy to know that ‘Digital Bangladesh Mela 2023’ is going to be held on January 26-28. Various measures taken by the present government in the field of telecommunication and information technology have resulted in the awakening of information technology across the country. As a result Vision-2021 has been successfully implemented.

He said that after transitioning from a less developed country to a developing country, the main goal of the vision 2041 is to build a developed state and a knowledge-based society. Universal use of information technology for public welfare, socio-economic development at the marginal level through proper application of 5G technology, artificial intelligence etc. to meet the challenges of the 4th industrial revolution is the next challenge.

He said that the Awami League government has implemented a comprehensive development program in this sector including infrastructure development, practical excellence, and widespread use of technology to deliver the benefits of telecommunication and information technology to every part of the country. All the services of the telecommunication sector have been modernized and up-to-date, including the launching of Bangabandhu satellites, increasing the use of the Internet, increasing the capacity of submarine cables, laying new submarine cables. IT-friendly policies have been formulated. 5G technology network has been launched experimentally in the country. In the meantime we have started using the services of Bangladesh’s own satellite ‘Bangabandhu Satellite’.

He said that optical fiber connectivity at the union level, optical fiber connectivity in all upazilas, district information transmission in all districts and more than four and a half thousand digital centers have been established across the country. 8,500 post offices have been converted into Post e-centres. Video conferencing has made communication faster and easier. Video conferencing has played an important role in keeping the country’s economy moving. The implementation of these initiatives has made it possible to deliver government services to the doorsteps of the people. The doors of immense possibilities have been opened in every sector including education, health, business and social communication of the country. New employment opportunities have been created for the young generation.

He said, I hope that through ‘Digital Bangladesh Mela 2023’, the people of the country will be more informed about various aspects of telecommunication and information technology and use digital services in keeping with the rest of the world. I wish the overall success of all programs undertaken on the occasion of ‘Digital Bangladesh Mela 2023’.
