Today is International Customs Day

Dhaka Bureau: International Customs Day is being celebrated today Thursday (January 26) in Bangladesh like other countries of the world. This year the theme of the day has been set as ‘Nurturing Future Generations: Developing Knowledge and Good Professionalism in Customs’.

And the main objectives of the Customs Day have been set – to keep imports and exports smooth by reviving the global economy, which has suffered greatly due to the Covid-19 pandemic; Keeping people and the global trading system moving by strengthening supply chains; To strengthen the spirit of cooperation among member countries and to create a business and investment-friendly environment through policy and procedural assimilation of modern technology in all spheres.

The President and the Prime Minister gave separate messages on the occasion. Due to the global pandemic, the International Customs Day is being celebrated on a smaller scale this year. That is why the rally has been postponed this year.

However, seminars have been organized on the occasion of the day. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will be present as the chief guest at the seminar organized at Rupasi Bangla Grand Ballroom of Hotel Intercontinental. Besides, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Jasim Uddin is a special guest and NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Munim will be present as the President. Certificate of Merit will be awarded to the best officers on the occasion.

On the occasion of the day, NBR Chairman Abu Hena Rahmatul Munim said that Bangladesh Customs is playing a leading role in building a sustainable economy through multifaceted measures including prevention of smuggling and bringing dynamism in import-export activities. Bangladesh Customs will contribute more to the economic development of the country by imparting knowledge and professional excellence to the next generation.
