Nilphamari Correspondent: Khulna-bound Rupsa Express train collided with Mithali Express engine at Chilahati in Nilphamari. At least half a hundred were injured in this incident.
The clash took place at Chilahati railway station on Wednesday (January 18) morning.
Locomaster Nazmul Haque of Rupsa Express train and Assistant Locomaster Majedur Rahman of Mithali Express are among the injured.
Confirming the matter, Chilahati Fire Service Leader Nur Alam Siddiqui said, a unit of ours and a unit of Domar are conducting rescue work at the spot.
Locals say that Khulna-bound Rupsa Express collided with the light engine of Mithali Express train after leaving Chilahati point.
Railway police officer Nesaruzzaman said that the engine of Mithali Express train is still running. As both the locomasters were injured, the engine could not be stopped. We are trying to stop the engine.
Apple Mahmud, a local resident, said that both engines were damaged in this incident but no major accident occurred. The details of the damage will be known after the rescue operation is over.
