Lohagara Correspondent: Cow theft has increased in Lohagara of South Chittagong. Households are spending night in fear of theft of domesticated cows. Last Friday, January 13, two cows including a pregnant cow were stolen from Lohagara Sadar Union. Two cows are said to have been stolen from Touhid’s cowshed in Gul Mohammad Para of Ward No. 9 of the Union. Local ward member Nurul Kabir and Abdul Noor of the area gave this information.
According to sources, the cow thief entered the yard by climbing the boundary wall of Tauhid’s residence. After that, the thieves broke the lock of the gate and cowshed and took away two cows. Experts believe that the price of two cows is at least one and a half lakh taka.
3 expensive cows were stolen from Shahab Uddin’s cattle shed in West Amirabad Khayarkul area of the upazila on the night of January 7. Local member Hossain Mohammad Sharfu confirmed the theft of 3 cows.
On the other hand, in the early hours of January 5, 4 cows were stolen from Ojha neighborhood of Ward number 8 area of Adhunagar union of the upazila.
It was reported that the four cows were stolen from the cow shed of local Abdul Sukkur and Shafiq Ahmed. Adhunagar Union Parishad Chairman Nazim Uddin confirmed the case of cow theft from Ojhapara. Local ward member Abul Hashan said that thieves locked the doors of two households from outside.
Then four cows were taken from their cow shed. According to local people, thieves bring trucks with weapons to steal cows. The stolen cows quickly left the place in trucks.
