Dhaka Bureau: Awami League General Secretary, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has commented that we cannot leave power in the hands of anti-independence militants BNP-Jamaat, they are destroying the country. He said this at a discussion meeting in front of the Awami League’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan on Wednesday (January 11) in the afternoon.

A discussion meeting was held in front of the party office during the pre-announced sit-in program.

In a discussion organized on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day under the banner of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League, Obaidul Quader said that BNP-Jamaat destroyed the country. How will those who destroy the country repair the state? Sheikh Hasina repaired the state. Sheikh Hasina has taken the state to the path of development from what they (BNP-Jamaat) destroyed.

Awami League leaders gathered in front of the party’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue from Wednesday morning.

Incidentally, the Awami League is on alert across the capital today in response to the simultaneous mass location program of like-minded alliances and parties including the BNP. The BNP and allied parties are conducting mass sit-in programs at a total of eight spots in the city, including BNP’s stand in front of the party’s central office. And the ruling Awami League and its associate-fraternal organizations are holding peace rallies and discussion meetings in at least five places.

Awami League’s affiliate Jubo League is also holding two major rallies in the capital. On the occasion of Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day, Jubo League-Dhaka Metropolitan North held separate rallies at Farmgate in the capital at 11 am and Dhaka Metropolitan South at 12 noon at Central Shaheed Minar. The party’s fraternal organization Chhatra League is holding a rally at the capital’s Shahbagh square from 11 am to 3 pm.
